Six years in the making, this very special album is by multi-instrumentalist Sam Shepherd – also known as Floating Points. It memorably fuses jazz, electronica, funk and modern classical music. The seven songs combine vintage synthesisers with conventional acoustic instruments beautifully, to deliver an ambient-flavoured jazz masterpiece. I love the eerie saxophone playing, freeform drum work and retro arpeggiated synths which constantly build and fall. This album takes you on an unique and unforgettable forty minute journey, and in my view the standout track is Silhouettes (I, II, III).
